DECADES VOL. 2 2000-2010

Toto je druhý díl knižní trilogie DEKÁDA (1. díl 1990-2000 / díl 3. 2010-2020) představující 30 let graffiti v Berlíně. S výběrem z tisíců fotografií se autentickým způsobem vynořuje obraz vývoje graffiti subkultury v Berlíně. Různé osobní texty autorů navíc dávají intimní pohled na jejich zkušenosti a perspektivy. Na jednu stranu tyto texty zprostředkovávají velmi živý obraz života berlínské graffiti scény, na druhou stranu umožňují čtenáři zažít Berlín minulých dnů.

Tento druhý díl obsahuje portréty s mnoha fotografiemi a osobními texty či komentáři následujících autorů graffiti a štábů:

Berlínské graffiti 00. let se vyznačuje transformací a dalším vývojem. Mnoho spisovatelů z 90. let se vzdalo malování ilegálních graffiti, pár jich zůstalo a zejména mnoho lidí z východní části města je následovalo. Po „diktátu divokého stylu“ z 90. let se nyní formy designu písmen pluralizují. Zvyšuje se represe proti nelegálnímu graffiti a profesionalizace spisovatelů při jejich řešení a enormně stoupá počet graffiti ve vlacích. Spousta ilustrací v knize se tedy opět zabývá disciplínou psaní vlaků.
Dalším hlavním tématem DECADES 2 je masivní změna vzhledu Berlína, zejména ve východní části města. Hnědé, rozpadající se fasády a mezery mezi budovami mizí spolu s požárními stěnami. S nimi se ztrácejí graffiti streetpieces celé dekády. Zvláště postižen je Prenzlauer Berg; na žádném jiném místě v Berlíně není radikální proměna města tak jasná jako zde. Berlín dostává svou novou moderní tvář.
Spisovatelé v tomto svazku vyprávějí o svém osobním rozvoji, o tom, jak vnímají proměnu města a jak styly a jejich estetické hodnocení ovlivnily jejich uměleckou tvorbu a úhly pohledu. Výsledkem je další ucelené dílo s hlubokými vhledy do různých postav, způsobů myšlení a životů zobrazených protagonistů.

This is the second volume of the DECADES book trilogy (vol. 1 1990-2000 / vol. 3 2010-2020) presenting 30 years of graffiti in Berlin. With a selection from thousands of photos, a picture of the development of the graffiti subculture in Berlin emerges in an authentic way. In addition, a variety of personal texts by the authors give an intimate insight into their experiences and perspectives. On the one hand, these texts convey a very vivid picture of the life of the Berlin graffiti scene, on the other hand, they allow the reader to experience the Berlin of days gone by.

Also included in the book are mixed chapters with hundreds of photos of many other graffiti writers and crews from the 00s.

Berlin graffiti in the 00s is characterised by transformation and further development. Many writers from the 90s have given up painting illegal graffiti, a few have stayed and especially many people from the eastern part of the city have followed suit. After the "wild style dictate" of the 90s, the forms of letter design are now pluralising. The repression against illegal graffiti and the professionalisation of writers in dealing with it are increasing, and the number of graffiti on trains is rising enormously. So a lot of the illustrations in the book deal again with the discipline of train writing. 
Another major theme in DECADES 2, is the massive change in the appearance of Berlin, especially in the eastern part of the city. The brown, crumbling façades and the gaps between buildings are disappearing along with the fire walls. With them, graffiti streetpieces of an entire decade are being lost. Prenzlauer Berg is particularly affected; in no other place in Berlin is the radical transformation of the city as clear as here. Berlin is getting its new hip face. 
The writers portrayed in this volume talk about their personal development, their perception of the change in the city and how the styles and the aesthetic evaluation of these have affected their artistic work and the angles of view. The result is another comprehensive work with deep insights into the different characters, ways of thinking and lives of the protagonists depicted.
